Employment Insurance (E.I.) provides temporary financial assistance for unemployed Canadians while they look for work or upgrade their skills, as well as Canadians who are sick, pregnant or caring for a newborn or adopted child.
  • EI claims have been steadily dropping on the Sunshine Coast.
  • Between the 1st quarter (Q1) 2002 and Q1 2003, claimants dropped by over 13%.
  • During Q4 2003 there were an average of 511 claims each month on the Sunshine Coast.
